Yorkshire Appetite Food Tours

A culinary and cultural adventure visiting 5 independents tasting delicious fare at each one!

Why have lunch at one place when you can try five!

Fridays and Sundays – 3 hours starting outside the Art Gallery.

Taste your way around the centre of York. We will take you on a culinary and cultural adventure stopping off at five of the city's great independents.  Discover the relationship between York and the rest of the world through a range of exciting dishes.

A fantastic walk around the city centre of York, enjoying stories about its long history.  We will visit five great independent eateries, all serving delicious food with great passion.  Food that is all sourced locally and with influences from around the world and each carefully chosen tasting makes up part of the city's vibrant food and drink scene.  With a knowledgeable guide and the company of other foodies, you and your taste buds will not only thoroughly enjoy yourself but you'll be supporting these local independents too.

What to expect

Your tour guide will greet you at York Art Gallery. For our tours, please arrive for a prompt start at 12.00 midday. The Art Gallery has a cafe if you arrive early and want a coffee while you wait.

Please dress for the weather – layers are best and wear suitable footwear for a gentle stroll.

We will be walking around the city centre and will end on Castlegate. We walk a little less than a mile in total.  It is all flat although some of the streets are cobbled. There are minimal stairs at all our tastings although some have restrooms which are accessed by stairs.

We do recommend having a very small breakfast – you want to save yourself for some delicious tastings!

We are meeting at the York Art Gallery at Exhibition Square. It is a ten minute walk from the station and there are several signposts pointing the way to the Art Gallery..
