Brickworks Museum

Winchester

The Brickworks Museum is set in the only steam-driven Victorian Brickworks left in the country. A visit takes you on a journey following in the footsteps of our ex-brickmakers. Over 8 million bricks a year were made in the factory and it was considered to be ‘state of the art’ in its day. One Sunday a month the old machinery is steamed up and put into action.

The museum also has an extensive collection of bricks and brickmaking artefacts. We tell the story of brickmaking from the early hand making right through to the Victorian factory.

There really is something for everyone, lots of hands-on activities for children of all ages and plenty of space inside if the weather is poor.

We have a café that serves light refreshments including delicious homemade cakes, freshly made sandwiches.

We also have over 30 arcade machines to play with. Have your fortune told or see if you can win against the odds! Made for the end of the pier they work perfectly in our old museum.
