Museum of the Broads

Great Yarmouth
Welcome to the Museum of the Broads!

We look forward to seeing you at our unique and tranquil riverside setting at Stalham Staithe, the Northern Gateway to the Broads National Park.  It’s easy to find us – it’s a right hand turn off the A149 just past the turn to Tesco at Stalham.  Parking is at Richardson’s boatyard with disabled parking at the Museum.

Families, cyclists and dogs are all welcome.  We also offer boat trips on our 2 boats – a Victorian steam boat, Falcon, and a wheelchair accessible Edwardian style electric boat, Marsh Harrier.  It’s a perfect way to explore our unique, watery landscape.

The displays show how people have lived and worked in the Norfolk and Suffolk Broads.  Our stories take you from Roman times through peat digging, marsh work and early tourists to the holiday makers, sailors and environmentalists of today.  Many of the items on display are unique and include some of the area’s most iconic boats.  There are interactives and trails to do too.  Much of our photo archive can be viewed digitally and we also have an audio guide tour.

Our special exhibition for 2021 is ‘Wish You Were Here – Holidays on the Broads’.  Compare your holiday with those from years ago.  Are there any differences?!

We have a small shop that sells souvenirs and light refreshments plus a riverside picnic area.  See our website to book and for further information.

We hope to see you soon!
