Beaker Button
Andover
I teach all sorts of woolly textile crafts.
Most popular are Dorset buttons, in various forms, spindle spinning basics, needle and wet felting, small frame weaving, and Macramé. I also teach various freeform hand stitch workshops.
Classes can be tailored to suit. A full day is £250. A half day is £150. Material costs can be arranged on top. I’m not driving at present due to vertigo so travel is at cost, including overnight accommodation if applicable. A maximum of 20 per class works best, but this is negotiable.
We can make a posy brooch, tree brooch, or a couple of buttons in a half day class. We can make 4-5 buttons, or a brooch and 2-3 buttons in a full day class. Beaded buttons are a nice option for a day class. Alternative Dorset buttons (non ring buttons like Dorset knobs) can be added or swapped if the class have already made a ring Dorset button.
Wet felted pictures, bowls, or jewellery are good day classes. Needle felted pictures, critters, or jewellery work well for a day class too.
Small frame weaving is usually make a coaster for a morning, or a landscape wall hanging over a day.
Macramé can be a key ring in a morning or a plant holder, market bag, or jewellery over the course of a day.
Freeform Hand stitch classes included creating books, like needle books or journals, steam punk birds, freeform stitched postcards, bookmarks, as a few examples. A great short class is make a freeform stitched brooch, using felt and scraps of thread.
I’ve added Japanese Temari balls to the group workshop program. These take a day to make, but a small version could be started in a 2 hour class and finished at home.
I've been teaching for over 10 years, both in groups and one to one. I'm very patient and kind, and work hard to make sure the whole class understands what we're doing.
Small taster sessions of most of the above can be arranged. Normally these would be £100 flat rate including materials and take an hour on average.
