A huge and internationally important and protected nature reserve, RSPB Dungeness boasts a range of exciting habitats to explore!
Our fresh water pits provide a home to thousands of wintering ducks and geese as well as nesting seabirds in the summer. The wide expanse of shingle is protected for its unique plants and insects that live underneath the stones. RSPB Dungeness is smothered in beautiful wildflowers during the summer months with a pallet of colourful plants attracting a huge variety of insects including rare bumblebees, moths and butterflies. Enjoy a walk around our nature trail, watch marsh harriers soar over our reedbeds searching for prey and listen to the chorus of the laughing marsh frog. In the winter months, watch the wildlife on the lakes through a picture window whilst enjoying the warmth and comfort of our visitor centre. Escape the hustle and bustle of the daily grind and experience the peace and tranquillity of this reserve.
RSPB Dungeness is open all year round (except Christmas Day and Boxing Day) and has a free car park and a great visitor centre which sells light refreshments including hot drinks and ice cream. We also have a fully stocked shop for gifts and wildlife goodies! We are family friendly with children’s activities provided all-year round. The nature trail, viewpoints and hides are also accessible for wheelchair users.
